City playgrounds, in particular, are spaces of possibility—where rules and freedom, the familiar and the unknown, safety and adventure coexist. The transformation of the Gropius Bau parking lot into Radical Playgrounds was a celebration of encounter. Architects, artists, thinkers, neighbors, and visitors collaborated to create a vibrant space that fostered connection, joy, and resilience. The project reminded us of the power of hope and collective creativity in shaping our public lives. Its form, inspired by Antfarm’s and Radić inflated pillows, creates an organic, flexible space where sound can be experienced in new, immersive ways. The structure’s inflated, reflective surface enhances both the visual and sonic qualities, transforming the environment into a dynamic acoustic experience. The Blue Park is a continuation of raumlabor’s public sauna and pool project from 2014/ 2015. The light poles were placed on movable foundations, allowing them to be rearranged across the site. The red buoys move with the wind, adding playfulness to the space. Solar-powered lights illuminate the area, transforming a parking lot into an interactive environment. This project aims to create a new iconic Gothenburg harbour light, inspired by the London Belisha beacon, adding a distinctive character to the city’s streetscape. Project done in collaboration with architects Maja Linnea Wendel, Rasmus RB Maabjerg from Rumgehoer Studio and artist Brad Downey.
